This was one of the first strategies I had long-term success with. Being a swing trader and learning to trade on the higher timeframes to start, my version of the Asian session breakout is a bit different than what one might expect. I like to wait 2-4 hours into the Asian session on the 15 minute chart until I get into a trade. I found waiting normally keeps me away from initial fake outs and allows for any News/Economic releases to run their course before I decide to jump in or not. This allowed me to keep a really tight SL, or a tight SL for me, which would be between 12-15 pips and aim for a 75 pip take profit zone for a 1:5 risk-to-reward ratio.
Below are a couple of examples of these types of trades and they do rely in part on discretion based off time on the screens. What I'm looking for may be much different than what another breakout trader is looking for, but that's the beauty of this game, if it works for you, then you're doing the right thing.
